In 2024, our team designed and technically supervised the lighting for DDX Fitness in the Passage Department Store on Nevsky Prospekt, one of St. Petersburg's most recognizable historic landmarks.

Objective

Our task was to integrate a modern engineering and lighting infrastructure without disrupting the historic fabric of the building. It was equally important to provide sufficient illumination for high-intensity workouts while eliminating glare, reflections, and oversaturation.

Our contribution

  • We utilized advanced optical systems with controlled light distribution, customized to the dimensions and reflectance properties of the halls.
  • The lighting was concealed within structural elements, including ceiling coves and beams, leaving the architecture visually untouched.
  • Adaptive lighting scenarios were implemented with adjustable color temperature and intensity based on time of day and functional load.

Outcome

The DDX at Passage became a nearly 2,000 m² modern fitness destination integrated into a historic envelope with deep respect for architectural heritage and attention to detail.
